The 2020 Toyota Innova Crysta facelift comes with a set of minor but refreshing cosmetic changes across exterior and interior
The much talked about 2020 Toyota Innova Crysta facelift has been finally launched in the Indian market with a host of minor but refreshing makeover touches inside out making the MPV distinctive appearing as compared to the pre-facelift version. The Toyota Innova Crysta facelift line-up is priced between Rs 16.26 lakh and Rs 24.33 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India, except Kerala). The Toyota MPV will be available in three different variants – GX, VX and fully loaded ZX.
As compared to the outgoing model, prices of the made-in-India Toyota Innova Crysta facelift version have been increased by Rs 60,000 for the entry-level GX petrol, while the top-spec ZX diesel-automatic variant is now priced Rs 70,000 dearer than before.

The Toyota Innova Crysta has been one of the bestselling cars from the Japanese brand in its segment, despite tough competition from Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Renault Triber. According to the October 2020 sales chart, the Innova Crysta is getting back in shape slowly, in the post-lockdown phase.
The MPV sold 4,477 units last month, as compared to 5,062 units recorded in the same month a year ago, marking a 12% YoY decline in sales. However, the Innova Crysta registered 10% MoM increase in sales last month, as compared to 4,087 units recorded in September 2020. With the festive season sales result yet to be out, expect the MPV to have recorded sequential growth in November as well.
Speaking about the launch of the Toyota Innova Crysta facelift, Naveen Soni, Senior Vice President, Sales and Service, TKM, hoped that the MPV would continue to be a popular choice for the customers s it has been for last 15 years. He also claimed that the Innova Crysta dominates the segment with a 43% market share.

Exterior: New face with minor changes
Meanwhile, talking about the Toyota Innova Crysta facelift’s design, it comes with almost the same styling changes that were seen on the Indonesian-spec Innova revealed in October.
New exterior features:
- New exterior colours – Sparkling Black Crystal Shine
- New trapezoidal Piano Black Grille with chrome surround
- New front bumper design
- New diamond-cut alloy wheels
The facelifted version gets a slightly larger front grille with thick chrome surrounding and more horizontal slats, making it more bold-looking. The headlamps with projector units and integrated LED daytime running lights are the same as the previous model, nut now gets an additional chrome extension.
The front bumper comes sharper looking with a revised design with larger and thick black plastic turn indicator housings. The circular fog lamps are there neatly positioned and the higher variants of the Toyota Innova Crysta facelift gets LED fog lamps.

The faux skid plate of the Indonesia-spec model has not made into the Indian version. The updated version of Innova Crysta runs on new 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. Moving to the back, the car gets no styling changes at all.

Interior: Same same but different
Enter the cabin of the Toyota Innova Crysta facelift, overall layout appears similar to the pre-facelift version of the MPV. However, there are a few changes made by the automaker to make it more premium looking. Available in both 7 and 8-seater options, the updated model gets leather seats on the top trim.

A revised 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system has been added with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard along with dedicated volume control and other function buttons. The 2020 Innova Crysta also boasts of automatic climate control, push start/stop button, cruise control, air purifying system, ambient lighting etc among other features.
New interior features:
- Front parking sonar (with MID Indication)
- New Camel Tan upholstery (ZX variant)
- New Smart Playcast touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto/Apple Carplay
The safety features include seven airbags in the top-end variants along with front parking sensors, vehicle stability control, Hill Start Assist, ABS with EBD and Emergency Brake Signal.

Powertrain: Same old engines
The Toyota Innova Cryst facelift comes with the same BS-VI engines that were introduced to the MPV earlier this year. If you don’t remember the Innova Crysta engine options, it gets a 2.7-litre petrol motor that churns out 168 PS of power output and 343 Nm of torque. The diesel variant gets a 2.4-litre unit that generates 152 PS of power output and 245 Nm of maximum torque.

Transmission options for both the petrol and diesel variants of new Innova Crysta include a 5-speed manual unit and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
