Tata Nexon SUV, the first GNCAP 5-star rated car in India has crossed the production milestone of 1.50 lakh units. The automaker has rolled out the particular unit of the SUV from its Ranjangaon plant.
Tata Motors hit the 50,000 units milestone back in September 2018, and 1 lakh units mark in September 2019. To reach another 50,000 units, the homegrown automaker took slightly more time than a year.
As Tata Motors says, sales of the BS-VI powered Nexon SUV has soared to all time high. Tata Nexon comes as one of the bestselling models in the Indian market, despite high competition in its segment that also houses the models like Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Ford EcoSport, Kia Sonet, Toyota Urban Cruiser etc.
To celebrate this occasion, Tata Motors has announced that it will be running a contest under the #Nexlevel150K campaign on social media to celebrate every customer’s journey with their Nexon SUV. Best entries will stand a chance to meet KL Rahul, Vice Captain of the Indian Cricket Team and the brand ambassador of Tata Nexon, along with a cash prize of Rs 1.50 lakh.

The coupeish looking Tata Nexon SUV registered 6,888 units of sales in October 2020, up 55% from 4,438 units recorded in the same month a year ago. The Tata Motors’ SUV was ranked 4th in the list, behind Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza (12,087 units), Kia Sonet (11,721 units) and Hyundai Venue (8,828 units).
The Tata Nexon SUV follows the Impact 2.0 design language of the homegrown automaker. The same design language is also adopted by the other Tata models like Tiago, Tigor, Altroz, Harrier.
Tata Motors has also launched an all-electric variant of the SUV, which has grabbed pretty good attention from the buyers since its launch. In between April-September 2020, Tata Nexon EV sold 1,151 units in the domestic market, despite the zero sales month in April 2020, due to the Coronavirus induced lockdown.
With this sales figure, the Tata Nexon EV commanded the lion’s share of the Indian electric passenger vehicle market grabbing a H1 FY21 market share of 61.4%. The all-electric Tata Nexon SUV competes with rival electric SUVs like Hyundai Kona EV and MG eZS.
