Tata Motors aims to leverage Mark Llistosella’s experience in the Indian commercial vehicle market in the upcoming days.
Tata Motors has announced on Friday that it has appointed Marc Llistosella as its new CEO and Managing Director of the automaker, effective from 1st July 2021. He will succeed Guenter Butschek, who has led the company for almost five years since he joined the homegrown automobile manufacturer in January 2016.
Llistosella has extensive experience in leading business and running sales, marketing, and network management as well as strategic planning after starting his career back in 1997. Between 2008-2014, He was based out of India as the Managing Director and CEO of Daimler Commercial Vehicles India (DICV). Under Llistosella’s leadership, the CV manufacturer became a greenfield organization. It produced and sold BharatBenz trucks and buses in 2012 and became a successful brand in a short period of time.
After that Llistosella joined the Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation as its President and CEO. He was associated with the company between 2015-2018 where he worked on improving the profitability and sales potential of the business.
Llistosella finished his university education from the University of Cologne with Economics, Marketing, and Sales.
Right now, he is one of the board of directors for Stockholm-based transport company Einride. The Swedish transport company has billed itself as ‘The intelligent movement company’ is targeting the complete transformation of the transportation industry.
Commenting on the appointment of Llistocella, N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Motors said that the new MD & CEO’s knowledge and expertise in commercial vehicles, especially in the Indian market, will help the automaker to grow further in the coming days. “Marc is an experienced automotive business leader with deep knowledge and expertise in commercial vehicles over his illustrious career and has extensive operational experience in India. Marc will bring this experience to take the Tata Motors Indian business to even greater heights,” said Chandrasekaran in his official statement.
Commenting on his appointment, Marc Llistosella said, “I am delighted to become a part of the unique Tata family. Having been bonded to India for so many years, a new exciting chapter is now opened. We would jointly awaken the potential of Tata Motors.”
Earlier, Guenter Butschek has informed the company about his desire to relocate to Germany at the end of the contract for personal reasons. He will continue to work in his present role till 30th July 2021.
