Renault India has announced special festive season offers amounting up to Rs 92,000 for government employees for the models like Duster, Kwid and Triber.

The special festive offer is available across the Renault India portfolio. As the automaker claims, there are exclusive additional offers for public sector employees, central and state government employees, including doctors and teachers.

The special additional offer added to the benefits of up to Rs 92,000 (Rs 22,000 + Rs 70,000) for the Renault Duster. The Renault Kwid is being offered a total benefit of Rs 62,000 (Rs 22,000 + Rs 40,000). On the other hand, the Renault Triber MPV, which is based on the Kwid small hatchback is being offered with a total benefit of Rs 52,000 (Rs 22,000 + Rs 30,000).

Renault India has also announced the availability of a wide range of products for the Defence (CSD) and Police (CPC) servicemen, through the respective canteen stores across India.

Besides the special benefits for the government employees, Renault India has also announced financing offers to lure the buyers. These include a special 3.99% rate of interest on Kwid and Triber. Also, the automaker is offering loyalty benefits of Rs 20,000 and an easy-care package of 3 years or 50,000 km on the newly introduced Duster 1.3L Turbo.

Renault India says that the schemes come in line with the measures taken by the Government of India, by introducing Leave Travel Concession or LTC cash voucher for the government employees.

The policy

On 12th October 2020, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a slew of measures in a bid to boost consumption in the Indian economy that has been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The federal government announced LTC cash voucher scheme for its employees, with which they can purchase goods and services in lieu of the tax-exempt part of the Leave Travel Concession/Leave Travel Allowance (LTA/LTC). The employee can claim tax-exemption on the travel fare encashed if the amount is spent by complying with specified preset conditions.

However, to avail these schemes, a government employee needs to spend an amount equal to the value of leave encashment and an amount three times of the cash equivalent of deemed fare, on purchased items or availed services. Also, the transaction has to be done through the digital mode before 31st March 2021 on goods or services purchase that attracts 12% or more GST. Also, the employee has to obtain a voucher indicating the GST number and the amount of GST paid to purchase the goods or services.
