Mercedes-Benz India on Thursday has launched the AMG GLE 53 Coupe at a price of Rs 1.20 crore (ex-showroom, India). The second-generation GLE Coupe, GLE 53 Coupe comes as the replacement for the first-generation GLE 43 Coupe. Also, the Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 is the first ’53’ badged model from the German luxury car brand to be launched in India.
The Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 Coupe draws power from a 3.0-litre in-line-six twin-turbo-petrol engine clubbed with a 48V mild-hybrid system. The engine churns out 441 PS of power.
The EQ Boost mild-hybrid system generated 22 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque. under hard acceleration. Power is sent to all the four wheels through a 9-speed automatic transmission and Mercedes’ 4Matic+ all-wheel drive (AWD) system.
As Mercedes claims, the AMG GLE 53 Coupe can accelerate to 0-100 kmph in 5.3 seconds, with a top speed of 250 kmph.
The AMG GLE 53 Coupe also gets AMG-specific upgrades like a sportier air suspension setup, adaptive dampers and uprated brakes to handle the additional power.
Available in eight colour options Brilliant Blue, Cavansite Blue, Emerald Green, Hyacinth Red, Mojave Silver, Obsidian Black, Polar White and Selenite Grey, the AMG GLE 53 Coupe gets dual 12.3-inch displays for infotainment and instrument cluster, both powered by MBUX system.
The AMG GLE 53 Coupe also gets a head-up display, quad-zone climate control, 13-speaker Burmester sound system, heated and ventilated front seats with memory function and four-way lumbar support, wireless phone charger, 64 colour ambient lighting, connected car tech with remote engine start, a panoramic sunroof and powered tailgate on offer.
Safety features for the Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 Coupe include nine airbags, a blind-spot monitor, a 360-degree camera, ESP and adaptive LED headlights as standard. The Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 Coupe rivals the models like Porsche Cayenne Coupe, Audi Q8 and BMW X6.
